The incredible space and vast expanse of the Karoo landscape is, in itself, a very special experience.
Rolling hills are framed by distant blue mountains and the views are unrestrained as far as the eye can see. Experience the drama of light and shadow as clouds build over the earth, smell the fragrance of the karoo vegetation as night falls and drink in the silence of a crisp starry sky.
Keurkloof is the ideal place to really get away from it all. The solitude and tranquility is a gift to your soul. |

The farm has more than enough space to enjoy mountain bikes, long hikes or easy walks along sheep paths, dirt tracks for recreational vehicles and some opportunities to utilise your 4X4.
Swimming in the farm dam is not to be missed! There is also a portable braai and bench at the dam for relaxing out of doors. |

Small game like Duiker, Meerkat, Tortoises and other reptiles and insects are plentiful. The farm also has resident herds of Springbok and Rheebuck.
Birding is excellent and the riverbeds and sheep drinking troughs provide good opportunities. |

The two farm horses are in a camp close to the cottage. Tame and quite friendly they can be visited, but not ridden until further schooling has taken place.
Keurkloof is essentially a sheep farm and large flocks can be seen grazing on the nutritious Karoobossies (shrubs). |
Bring you own horses and enjoy the space and freedom of a Karoo farm!
Open stables (see photo below) and secure camps are located near the cottage and arrangements for feed can be made.
Other well behaved pets of almost any description also welcome with prior consent. |
Explore nearby Matjiesfontein's quaint village (about 10 km). Have a drink in the pub or try the delicious cheese cake in the coffee shop. Go out for a dinner at the hotel or spend time in the museum.
